This is an interesting study in PROGRESSIVE CORROSION of the plate: the first imperf is an EARLY print with NO CORROSION BLURS, while the LATER prints of the Imperf in Deep Full Blue and the Perf.16 show extensive, almost identical corrosion blurs, caused by poor storage of the plate during the period when it was stored off press. One must therefore presume that perforation was introduced during the period at press when both these sheets were printed in early 1854. The imperfs have four good-to-LARGE margins, cancelled respectively with Aberdeen '1' and London Inland '17' numerals, while the Perf.16 is centred slightly high left, with FULL PERFS, VERY LIGHTLY cancelled with an ?English? numeral, leaving much of the HEAD CLEAR.
