1841 1d Red-brown, a FU single from this SCARCER EARLY plate, with four close-but-clear(NW)-to-VERY LARGE margins, on entire letter Greenock to Inveraray, dated 17 December 1841, cancelled and tied with a VERY FINE example of the SCARCE DISTINCTIVE GREENOCK MALTESE CROSS. Very gentle filing bend across top does not adversely affect the stamp. In the SCARCE STATE 2 after the (?)late repair (according to SG - early repair according to Stone & Statham), showing re-entry mark NE and letter 'B' thinned. NE break still present. A RARE COMBINATION of distinctive cross and second state... Cat.500++. 225.00

1841 1d Red-brown, a VFU+ single from this DIFFICULT EARLY plate, with four clear(upper W)-to-mostly VERY LARGE margins, on tiny but tatty ENTIRE LETTER Barrow-upon-Humber to Brigg, dated 21 December 1841, VERY LIGHTLY cancelled with a black Maltese Cross, leaving COMPLETE CLEAR PROFILE. Fine SCARCE BARROW-UPON-HUMBER UDC. Major BASAL SHIFT, NE break, and a WORN state of the plate. Cat.200+. New!

1841 1d Red-brown, a G-VFU RARE STRIP OF SIX, with VERY LARGE margins at top, but cut into at base of 'PB'-to-'PE', on long ENTIRE LETTER Oxford to Warwick via Leamington, dated 12 December 1843, some two months after the plate was taken from press and defaced, cancelled with black Maltese Crosses. 'PA' is showing the RARE STATE II MAJOR RE-ENTRY of the repair very late in the life of the plate. Also 'PB': 'P SMALL LOOP, and 'PD': DOUBLE LETTER 'D'. Cat.1550++ (as six singles OFF COVER). New!
